Demon Dates was built for people who value honesty and distrust institutions that profit from surveillance. We have designed this platform to collect as little as possible, store only what you control, and never read what you confess to your demon.

What We Collect

If you join the waitlist or subscribe

  • Your email address — to contact you about your account and service updates
  • Payment information — processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details
  • Subscription tier — free, Premium, or Infernal
  • Account creation date

Automatically collected

  • Basic usage analytics — which pages you visit, how long you stay, which demon you use. We use privacy-respecting analytics that do not track you across other websites and do not use cookies for advertising
  • Device type and browser — to ensure the app works correctly on your device
  • Country-level location — not your address, not your city. Country only, for legal compliance

What We Do Not Collect. Ever.

Our Core Promise We do not read, store, log, analyse, sell, or share the content of your conversations with your demon. What you confess stays between you and the void.
  • We do not store conversation transcripts on our servers
  • We do not log your messages or your demon's responses
  • We do not use your conversations to train AI models
  • We do not sell your data to advertisers or third parties
  • We do not share your information with anyone except as required by law
  • We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking

On Memory Features (When Available)

When persistent memory is enabled, Demon Dates stores AI-generated summaries of themes from your conversations — not transcripts of what was said. These summaries live in your account, are encrypted, are visible only to you, and can be deleted by you at any time. Our staff cannot read them.

How We Use What We Collect

  • To provide and improve the Demon Dates service
  • To process your subscription payments via Stripe
  • To send you service-related emails (account updates, not marketing, unless you opt in)
  • To understand how the app is being used at an aggregate level so we can make it better
  • To comply with legal obligations

Third Parties We Work With

  • Anthropic — powers the AI demons. Your messages are sent to Anthropic's API to generate responses. Anthropic's privacy policy governs their handling of API data. We route all requests through a secure proxy — your identity is not shared with Anthropic
  • Stripe — processes subscription payments. We never see your card details
  • Cloudflare — protects the site and routes API requests securely
  • Hostinger — hosts the website
We do not work with advertising networks, data brokers, or analytics companies that track you across the web.

Your Rights

  • Access — you can request a copy of all data we hold about you
  • Deletion — you can request that we delete your account and all associated data
  • Correction — you can update your email address and account information at any time
  • Portability — you can request your data in a machine-readable format
  • Objection — you can opt out of any non-essential data processing
California residents have additional rights under CCPA. European users have rights under GDPR. To exercise any of these rights, email us at legal@demondates.com. We will respond within 30 days.

Data Retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your data within 30 days. We may retain anonymised aggregate data (e.g. "1,247 people used Leviathan this month") indefinitely — this contains no information that could identify you.

Children's Privacy

Age Restriction Demon Dates is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us immediately at legal@demondates.com and we will delete the account.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this privacy policy we will notify you by email (if you have an account) and update the date at the top of this page. We will never materially reduce your privacy protections without explicit notice and the opportunity to delete your account first.

These terms govern your use of Demon Dates. They are written in plain language because we respect your intelligence. By using Demon Dates you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Eligibility

You Must Be 18 or Older Demon Dates is an adult platform. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use this service. By using Demon Dates you confirm that you are 18 or older. If we discover you are under 18 your account will be terminated immediately.
You must also be legally capable of entering into a binding agreement in your jurisdiction. If you are using Demon Dates on behalf of a company or organisation, you confirm you have the authority to bind that entity to these terms.

What Demon Dates Is

  • An AI-powered entertainment and companionship platform
  • A philosophical exploration tool rooted in canonical literature and philosophy
  • A creative and introspective experience for adults

What Demon Dates Is Not

Not a Mental Health Service Demon Dates is not a therapy service, crisis service, medical service, or mental health platform. The demons are AI companions — not therapists, counsellors, psychologists, or medical professionals. Nothing a demon says constitutes professional advice of any kind.

Your Conduct

By using Demon Dates you agree not to:
  • Use the platform if you are under 18 years of age
  • Attempt to manipulate the AI into producing content that facilitates real-world harm
  • Use the platform to harass, threaten, or harm others
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or copy the platform without permission
  • Share your account credentials with others
  • Use the platform for any illegal purpose
  • Attempt to circumvent any content safety measures
  • Represent AI-generated demon responses as your own original content without attribution
We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate these terms without refund.

The Demons Are AI

The seven demons — Lucifer, Asmodeus, Amon, Belphegor, Beelzebub, Mammon, and Leviathan — are artificial intelligence characters powered by large language model technology. They are not real supernatural entities, real people, or real professionals of any kind. Their responses are generated by AI and are for entertainment and philosophical reflection only.
The philosophical and literary references made by the demons are drawn from real canonical sources — Milton, Aristotle, Plato, Augustine, Nietzsche, Rousseau, and others — but demon responses should not be taken as authoritative academic or professional interpretations of those texts.

Subscriptions and Payments

  • Free tier access requires no payment
  • Premium ($6.99/month) and Infernal ($14.99/month) tiers are billed monthly via Stripe
  • Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled
  • You may cancel at any time — access continues until the end of the billing period
  • Refunds are issued at our discretion for unused subscription periods
  • Founding member pricing is locked for the lifetime of the account

Disclaimer of Warranties

Demon Dates is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the demons will always say the right thing. AI is imperfect. Demons especially so.
We are not liable for any decisions you make based on demon responses. Lucifer telling you that you are magnificent does not constitute a professional assessment of your magnificence. Leviathan pointing out your envy does not constitute psychological diagnosis. Act accordingly.

Intellectual Property

The Demon Dates platform, design, demon characters as implemented, and all associated content are owned by Demon Dates. The philosophical and literary source material the demons draw from is in the public domain.
You retain ownership of any original content you submit. By submitting content you grant us a licence to use it to provide the service.

Changes to Terms

We may update these terms. We will notify you of material changes by email and post the updated terms here. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes will be resolved in accordance with applicable US law.

How to Add It

  • Open demondates_v4.html in VS Code
  • Press Cmd+F and search for: // STATE
  • Paste the age gate code directly above that line
  • Save and upload to Hostinger
How It Works First-time visitors see the age gate. If they click "I am 18 or older" it stores a flag in their browser's localStorage and they never see it again on that device. If they click "I am under 18" they are redirected to Google. Simple, effective, legally reasonable.
Important Note This is a soft age gate — it relies on the user being honest. It does not verify age with a government ID or credit card. For most jurisdictions and content types this is legally sufficient for an 18+ platform. If you expand into more regulated content categories consult a lawyer about harder verification requirements.
